MARUM GeoB Core Collection

The MARUM GeoB Core Collection presently houses over 23 km of marine sediment cores jointly collected by members of the Faculty of Geosciences and the MARUM on over 260 expeditions since 1988. In addition to the original marine sediment cores, millions of individual marine sediment and water samples from various GeoB expeditions are archived in accordance with their state of processing.

Within the MARUM GeoB Core Collection we inventorise and maintaine the jointly achieved and still growing treasure of marine samples with state-of-the-art curation and archiving techniques (ExpeditionDIS – CurationDIS; version GeoB). Our goal is to provide high quality sample material while retaining the best possible core and sample archive at the same time.
