MARUM at the Hannover Messe

This year's world's most important industrial trade fair in Hanover will focus on the presentation of sustainable solutions for achieving climate neutrality and thus climate change, a core topic at MARUM.

In addition to specialist presentations, the program also includes numerous events for school pupils and high school graduates looking for a course of study to give them an insight into technical professions and innovative, future-oriented technologies. In this context, Prof. Achim Kopf from MARUM gave a keynote speech on the topic of “Engineering professions in climate change”. The subsequent panel discussion, organized by the Association of German Engineers (BDI) and very well attended, addressed the need for engineers in areas such as coastal protection and extreme events, renewable energies, carbon storage in the sea and technology development. The topics worked on at MARUM and as part of research missions of the German Marine Research Alliance (DAM) made just as important a contribution as the discussion of the challenges of technical implementation by the next generation.
