AG Micropaleontology - Paleoceanography

  Foraminifera Biology

  combines field observations, genetics and laboratory experiments on living foraminifera in order to better interpret their fossil record.

  Marine Palynology

  employs dinoflagellate cysts, pollen and spores in marine sediments as tools to reconstruct past oceanography and climate.

  Paleoceanography

  investigates marine sediments and their microfossil record to unravel how oceans and marine ecosystems reacted to global change in the past.

Micropalaeontology-Palaeoceanography

Our research combines the study of marine microfossils, such as foraminifera, with the investigation of their living relatives. We use molecular genetics, laboratory experiments and field observations on living organisms to develop and improve methods for reconstructions of past climates from marine sediment cores. The results help us to understand how past oceans and marine ecosystems reacted to global change.
