2024: Climate and Environment

Climate change, climate crisis, climate protection – climate-related topics are omnipresent, and yet they remain abstract. What is behind climate research? What role do the seas and oceans play? And what can I do myself to protect the climate, even as a young person? These are the topics that MARUM would like to address at the Explore Science hands-on station. We want to show why the climate is changing, how climate research works and why it is important.

Step by step, we want to build on what we already know, such as why it is warmer in Bremen in July than in December, or where rainwater comes from. We want to work out what the difference is between weather and climate, or what it means for different regions of the world when the climate changes. Once we have clarified why we cannot draw conclusions about the global climate from the weather in Bremen, we will delve deeper into science and ask where these findings come from – and what we can do with them.

in 2024, MARUM will be involved in this overarching theme with not one, but two hands-on stations:

"Our climate - then, now and in the future" and "How the sea moves us - life in and around water".

The MARUM school laboratory offers workshops for which interested school classes can register until 15 August. Click here to register: explore-science.de/bremen/workshops

All offers are free of charge, and mostly in German.
